Biography
“You can look at a picture for a week and never think of it again. You can also look at a picture for a second and think of it all your life. “ - Joan Miro
Design, Movement, Color, Feeling, Expression, Optimism, Joy, Awe……….. These are just a few of the words that describe what you see when you look at a painting by Grace Scarlet. Grace has always been fascinated with vivid color. Anything colorful makes her heart sing! In personality, she is an optimist and this shows in all of her art. At three years old the art journey began through drawing and painting. She simply never put down her brushes and continued to grow as an artist. Grace uses “heavy body” acrylic paints through most of her work to achieve the aesthetic she desires. Her goal is to bring texture into each painting to make you want to touch it. Her favorite tool is a palate knife but also uses many other tools. When she first learned that Vincent Van Gogh favored the palate knife she couldn’t wait to try it. This has been her favorite ever since. She works in many layers to build color and texture and paints with thoughtful intuition. Most paintings take several weeks to complete as she thinks about the feeling and expression going into the design and colors. Inspiration is found anywhere and everywhere in her paintings…………….from the color in a flower, to the amazing work of interior decorators, or the inspiration of simple and complex shapes all around us.
As you peruse her works of art, she hopes that you will find great joy in her work. The world needs more joy! Please feel free to reach out with any art questions you may have. The phone is always the most personal and easy, but you are also welcome to too.
